“Rana, have you done your English lesson today?” asked the teacher. “Yes, sir” he replied. “But I haven’t understood one grammatical point. Would you please explain it to me?” The teacher assured him saying, “I’ll help you to understand the point.”
The teacher asked Rana if he had done his English lesson that day. He replied in affirmative respectfully and added that he had not understood one grammatical point and also asked if he (T) would please explain it to him (R). The teacher assured him saying that he would help him (R) to understand the point.

Ratul said to me, “Where are you going now?” “I am going to the stadium to watch a cricket match. Do you want to go with me?” said I. Ratul said, “Let’s us go together.”

The teacher said to the boy, “Why are you making a noise in the class? You are not attentive to your lessons.” The boy said, “Sir, I am sorry. I was asking for a pen to my friend.” The teacher said, “Be attentive and listen tom carefully.”
The teacher asked the boy why he (B) was making a noise in the class. He (T) also said he (B) was not attentive to his (B) lessons. The boy replied respectfully that he (B) was sorry. He (B) added that he (B) had been asking for a pen from his (B) friend. The teacher advised him (B) to be attentive and listen to him (T) carefully.

“What do you take as lunch in school, Shafiq?” Shafin said. “I always take junk food. Don’t you like it at all?” “No,” Shafin said, “Why don’t you like it?” “I don’t like it because it does not contain any food value.” said Shafin.
Shafin asked Shafiq what he (Shafiq) took as lunch in school. Shafiq replied that he (Shafiq) always took junk food. He (Shafiq) asked Shafin if he (Shafin) did not like that at all. “Good morning”, said the tourist. “Do you have any room vacant?” “Yes, sir, double or single?” “I want one single”, said the tourist. The receptionist said, “We have a single room on the second floor”
The tourist wished the receptionist good morning and asked if the/they had any room vacant. Addressing as sir, the receptionist replied in the affirmative and wanted to know whether he wanted double or single room. The tourist replied that he wanted one single. The receptionist said that they had a single room on the second floor.

“What is the time by your watch?” he said. “It is half past nine, “I said. He said, “I want to go to the school. Would you accompany me, please? I am sorry,” replied I.
He asked what the time was by my watch. I replied that it was half past nine. He said that he wanted to go to the school and requested me to accompany him. I replied that I was sorry.

“I think I failed to catch my flight,” Arju said to an officer on duty, “What shall I do now?” “Go to the enquiry booth,” the officer said. “Flight BG 006 has taken off just now,” the personnel in the enquiry booth said. “But your ticket is for flight BG 008.”
Arju told an officer on duty that he thought he had failed to catch his flight. The officer asked what he would do then and requested to go to the enquiry booth. The personnel in the inquiry booth said that Flight BG 006 had taken off just then and added that his ticket was for Flight BG 008.

The boy said to the teacher, “Sir, I shall be much obliged if you will kindly lend me the book you praised highly in the classroom yesterday.” The teacher said, “I am very glad to know that you are eager to read this book. You are welcome to any books that you like.”

“Have you killed the rats?” said the Mayor. “Yes, I have,” said the piper. “Give me the promised money.” “How funny you are!” said the Mayor, “We cannot give you so much money. Take only fifty.”
The mayor asked the piper if he had killed the rats. The piper replied in the affirmative that he had and requested to give him (P) the promised money. The mayor exclaimed that he was very funny and added that they could not give him so much money and ordered to take only fifty.

Sabina said, “Happy birthday to you.” “Thank you so much,” said Ali, “Where is Arif?” “I don’t know.” “Let’s find him out,” replied Sabina.
Sabina wished Ali happy birthday. Ali thanked her so much. Sabina asked Ali where Arif was. Ali replied that he did not know. Sabina proposed that they should find him (Arif) out.

Suddenly a voice called out, “Good morning, gentlemen. Where are you going and what are you doing here?” “Oh, nowhere and nothing,” “You look so pensive (চিন্তিত), why?” “Yes, you are right. We are looking for something,” replied the six blind men. “Who are you, sir?”
Suddenly a voice addressed the six blind men as gentlemen and wished good morning to them and also asked where they were going and what they were doing there. The six blind men replied that they were going nowhere and doing nothing. The voice asked why they looked so pensive. They replied in the affirmative that he was right and added that they were looking for something. Then they addressed the voice as sir and asked who he was.
(Note: those who get struggled with the last line to identify the speaker, here is a point- “sir” can be addressed to a singular person, not plural.)

“We would like to go to an excursion (প্রমোদভ্রমণ). Can we have permission, madam?” said the students. “Yes, you can arrange it after the examination is over. And you should choose a historical place for that,” replied the headmistress. “Thank you, madam.”
